So your kids finally convinced you this year to host the big neighborhood Halloween party. Obviously your wish is for everything to be perfect for your guests, young and old. The key in my opinion is to focus on Halloween decorations and create the ambience for a really scary party. People expect to be scared and this is the one night we welcome creepy things. Your guest will be eating candy so don’t worry about the gourmet stuff. If you can make the treats scary by all means.
Things You Can Do
If you really want to put the fear into people one area to put your attention on is lighting. Make sure to turn your lights very low, or even turn them off, using only candles to create a scary spooky manyHalloween glow. Be extra careful where you place the Halloween candles for the sake of your guest safety. If you have a many young children at the party, forget the candles unless it out of reach of children another thing you can do is replace regular light bulbs with dark colored bulbs.
Inundate your home with really spooky smoke and fog made from dry ice.
Create several scary head centerpieces for your home.
Another favorite is to place a apple heads in the least expected places such as on hall way, dining room or kitchen chairs, if you can even in your guests' coat pockets, or at the bottom of a snack bowl.
Make sure to play some spooky Halloween tunes all around your home, inside and outside .
Welcome your guests with spooky jack-o-lanterns lining your walkway.
Create scary spiders to scatter everywhere including your buffet table, chairs, ceilings and anyplace else your guests might be surprised.
Spread cobwebs in choice corners of your home (available at most party stores) and selectively place miniature spiders in each web.
Cover your furniture with white sheets to simulate a deserted haunted house. Scatter talcum powder over the sheets to create a dust cloud when your guests sit.
Make bat, witch or black cat silhouettes to hide in corners or on your windows.
